Insights: A Look into Lebanon

Lebanon is a small, Middle-Eastern country located on the Mediterranean Sea. A country with some of the richest history in the world, Lebanon prides itself on resilience, strength, passion, and much more. Explore this page to gain some insight into this beautiful country!

The past few years have been difficult for the Lebanese. Still feeling the after effects of a grueling war, the Lebanese population is looking to rebuild and recover from over a year of fighting. Moreover, the country is still under one of the worst economic periods of its history. The Lebanese pound has lost 98% of its value, inflation is at an all-time high, and the poverty rate has sadly increased from 25% in 2019 to 74% in 2021. That said, the Hybrid Youth Access Foundation’s Lebanon chapter aims to do as much as possible to help the Lebanese people during these difficult times.

How We Want to Help

Despite these troubles, the Lebanese people have been known to recover well no matter the circumstances, which is why they are compared to the phoenix. The phoenix is able to rise again from its ashes, while the Lebanese have shown strength and perseverance through even the most dangerous periods. The HYAF looks to provide great support to the Lebanese on their journey of recovery, primarily through youth support. All funds received will go to the purchase of sports and recreational equipment as we attempt to provide underserved youth with access to sports and sports medicine awareness.

The HYAF will provide support through Lebanese schools and establishments, focusing on rural areas where the poverty rate is unfortunately high. We look to help the youth in these rural areas with various recreational amenities, as well as important knowledge about recovery, personal health, and more to build habits that last a lifetime. By partnering with schools in need, we hope to leave a mark on many Lebanese youth with cherished experiences and much-needed help.

Example: Aabba Public School (مدرسة عبا الرسمية)

Aabba Public School is located in the village of Aabba in Southern Lebanon. Previously associated with renowned programs and organizations like the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Aabba Public School is a stronghold for youth empowerment in the village, and it represents many other public schools all over Lebanon which help assist and support impoverished individuals.
